Which is why it's also the piece most worth commissioning properly — and the easiest one to over-pay for if you don't know what you're paying for. Here's what actually goes into a bespoke ELEVÉ sofa.
Kiln-dried solid hardwood — beech, oak or ash — jointed with mortise-and-tenon construction and reinforced with corner blocks. Kiln-drying takes the moisture content down to 8–12%, so the timber doesn't warp under Dubai's humidity and AC swings. Cheap sofas use stapled softwood frames that wobble within three years. A good frame lasts 25–40.
Eight-way hand-tied coil springs, attached to webbing across the seat platform, are the gold standard. The springs are individually tied in eight directions to give consistent support and flex. Sinuous (S-spring) suspension is the budget alternative — fine for occasional seating, not for a primary family sofa.
Premium sofas layer high-density foam (35+ kg/m³) wrapped in fibre or feather. The mix determines how the cushion holds shape and feels under sit. We build to your preference: firm and supportive, soft and sink-in, or somewhere in between. Cushions are always reversible and re-fillable.
Fabric choice is where most projects underspend, and where the second-year wear shows. We specify Belgian linen, performance bouclé (Romo, Kvadrat, Designers Guild), Crypton-treated upholstery, performance velvet, or full-grain Italian leather. Look for a Martindale rub count above 30,000 for residential use and above 50,000 for hospitality.
Double-stitched seams, hand-finished welts, leg materials that match or counterpoint the room — brushed brass, antique bronze, marine-grade stainless or solid hardwood. Removable, washable cushion covers on request. Floor protection felt on every leg.
Tailored sofas range from AED 18,000 for a compact two-seater in performance fabric to AED 45,000+ for a tailored three-seater in full-grain leather, to AED 80,000+ for large L-shaped or modular sectionals with premium materials.
Standard lead time is 6–10 weeks. Italian leather and certain European fabrics add 2–4 weeks for sourcing. Reupholstery of an existing sofa typically takes 3–5 weeks.
Yes — most of our work is for non-standard rooms. L-shaped configurations, curved corner units, modular sections that pass through tight hallways or apartment lifts. Send floor plans or measurements and we'll design to fit.
