Step one: get the size right

Bed sizing in the UAE causes more confusion than any other piece, because retailer names vary. What matters is the centimetre dimension of the mattress. The sizes commonly available in the UAE are:

• Single: 90 × 200 cm
• King (Queen equivalent): 150 × 200 cm
• Super King: 180 × 200 cm — the most-specified master size
• Emperor: 200 × 200 cm — for large master suites

A bespoke bed is built to your chosen mattress size exactly, including non-standard and imported mattresses. Beyond the mattress, proportion the bed to the room: in a generous master suite, a Super King or Emperor with a tall headboard reads correct, while the same mattress with a short retail headboard looks lost against a 3.4-metre wall.
